Moderate exercise and dieting reduces risk of caesarean section and diabetes in pregnancy, says study

ALondon, July 21 (IBNS):  study published in BMJ is the world's largest research project in search of life-style intervention in pregnancy, which includes more than 50 researchers from 41 institutes.
The result was recently used by the UK's Chief Medical Officer of the Department of Health, on physical activity in pregnancy, which recommended moderate intensity activity of at least 150 minutes each week.
Half of all women of childbirth worldwide are overweight or obese, who put both mother and child at risk in pregnancy and later life.
Previous studies have shown that in diet and physical activity, there is an overall benefit on weight loss during pregnancy, but the conclusions are different for their protective effects on the results of mothers and children.
Professor Shakila Thangaratnam of the Bart's Research Center for Women's Health, QMU said: "Our conclusions are important because it is often considered that pregnant women should not exercise because it can harm the child. But we say that babies Physical activity or diet does not affect it, and that decrease in maternal weight, diabetes in pregnancy, and cesarean section There are additional benefits with the risk of need. "
"It should be a part of routine advice in pregnancy, as given by physicians and midwives, when we can get involved with the advice that why it is beneficial for mothers, we hope mothers will change these lifestyle."
Research has seen separate participant data for 12,526 pregnant women across 36 previous trips in 16 countries, which includes restrictions of sugar sweet drinks, compared to the effect of dieting, promoting low-fat dairy products, Increase in fruits and vegetables) and physical activity (medium intensity including aerobic classes and stable cycling, and resistance training for muscle groups).
By avoiding physical activity, avoiding the mother's weight at an average of 0.7 kg during pregnancy, and about 10 percent reduces the obstacles of the mother with the sperm section. The UK's cesarean rates are around 25 percent and can be taken as risks, such as the mother's infections and the problems of breathing for the child.
Professor Thangartinam said: "For every 40 mothers who follow healthy diet and moderate exercise, a lesser woman will end up with the Caesarean section."
By changing lifestyle, the risk of diabetes is reduced to 24% in pregnancy, which usually affects more than 1 in 10 mothers of pregnancy, and complexity increases in mother and child.
Currently in the UK, only a dietitian and access to specialized prenatal classes are given to advise obese women about diet and lifestyle, so that they can lose weight.
Professor Thangaratinam said: "With such intervention, some groups have more benefits than others, but we have shown that diet and physical activity has a beneficial effect in all groups, your body mass index (BMI), age or Regardless of caste; Therefore, there is the ability to benefit a large number of people in these interventions. "
There was no convincing evidence that due to intervention, children at the time of childbirth, low weight or overweight births, or entry into a neonatal intensive care unit were affected. The lack of adverse effects should be convinced by those mothers who do not practice conventionally structured or advised to manage their diet during pregnancy.
It is limited in the study that researchers were only able to classify the ethnicity of women largely as Caucasian or non-Caucasian, and the vast majority of the population in the study was middle-to-high education, a factor that followed the compliance of intervention Used to support
This study was funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Technology Assessment (HTA) program.
